Rovers face a maiden visit to Salford City next in the Sky Bet League Two
In our previous game, we drew 2-2 against Tranmere Rovers at the Mem. A result which saw the end of three home games on the spin in which Rovers won two, including a dramatic winner against Oxford United in the Emirates FA Cup and a 2-1 victory over Northampton Town.
The Gas now face a midweek trip to Salford City. Rovers have never faced off against the Manchester based side before, so make sure to get up to speed ahead of the game with our match preview.
Rovers boss, Joey Barton has said that the players have grown in confidence off the back of an unbeaten run of three home games in a row.
"I think the lads will grow in confidence from that (unbeaten week at the Mem). We've been really good away from home before this period which allowed us to come into the Mem with a bit more confidence and galvanise the fanbase.
Whilst we didn't take maximum points from Saturday's game against Tranmere Rovers. We've still given a good account of ourselves aswell as a good performance, we've managed to progress in the cup sandwiched inbetween that.
Now back to two really tough away fixtures. Salford who I think were early season favourites for the division and Forest Green who are riding high at the top of the division. Two really tough fixtures but it's another chance for us to test our teamship and it's a challenge that we will look to meet head on."
Salford's recent form has been mixed. They have lost four times over the past 10 games, but have registered 3 wins out of their last four outings, which included victories in the Papa John's Trophy and the Emirates FA Cup.
Gary Bowyer's side beat Harrogate at home on the weekend just gone - which was their first win in the league since mid-October.
Salford have scored 10 of their 19 goals this season at home - averaging just over 12 shots per home game. In the league, Tuesday's opponents have scored four goals courtesy of set-pieces so far during 2021/22 - Rovers in comparison have nine goals from set-piece situations.
Ben Toner is the official in charge of Tuesday's clash. Toner has officiated 17 games this season, handing out 37 yellow cards and one red card. His latest fixture was Shrewsbury's Emirates FA Cup tie at Stratford. His last Rovers game was back in February 2020, in our defeat at the Stadium of Light. Toner has officiated 26 Sky Bet League Two games in total, averaging 26.38 fouls per game and 3 yellow cards per fixture.
