The Club are delighted to launch an official Bristol Rovers Hall of Fame in partnership with the Retro Rovers Podcast.
Beginning with an initial 10 inductees, the aim for the Hall of Fame is to celebrate those who left a lasting legacy from their time in the blue and white quarters and to remember the personnel involved in the club's rich history.
Over the next 10 weeks, we will be announcing an addition to the initial Hall of Fame each Friday. Alongside this, we urge supporters to reach out to relatives to discuss the playing days of each inductee - we aim to bring families closer during these tough times, whilst also discussing the Gas greats from yonder year.
We ask supporters to screen record their chats regarding the former players and send on to the club to an email which will be attached to each player announcement. These videos will then be turned into a large compilation after the initial 10 announcements, celebrating the players and sharing the fanbase's thoughts.
Furthermore, the families of each inductee will be invited down to a Rovers game in the future, when fans can return, with the videos relating to their relative played on the big screen ahead of kick-off as a symbol of their importance to generations of Gasheads.
Gashead artist 'Tonz' will be creating original artwork for each of the 'Hall of Famers' which will be displayed in the Thatchers bar.
Going forward, a further 2-3 players will be inducted at the conclusion of each season.
On the partnership, RetroRovers Podcast commented, saying "The RetroRovers Podcast team consider it an enormous honour to have contributed to the inauguration of the Bristol Rovers Hall of Fame. This fantastic Club has a rich and storied past.
Those selected are those we feel made the most significant contributions to that history. Leadership, loyalty and on-field excellence were the chief criteria by which we assessed those contributions.
"Some amazing characters have worn the quarters (and stripes, and plain blue). Some fantastic players will have to wait to get in! Yet in our efforts to select the first entrants we were largely unanimous. Some figures are undeniably linked with the club forever.
"Up The Gas!"
On the Hall of the Fame and the partnership with Retro Rovers Podcast, commercial director, Tom Gorringe said "Rovers is a club with an esteemed history so we're delighted to be celebrating our heroes in this way - giving them the credit and recognition they deserve. As a community-driven club we must continue to celebrate those who demonstrated outstanding service to the club while in the blue and white quarters. We have recently seen the popularity excitement around so many of our former players with the Legends mugs and we are delighted to be able to create a platform to celebrate our heroes formally.
"In addition, the partnership with the Retro Rovers Podcast furthers out ties to our fanbase and community, alongside the recent introduction of club commentary to our match day coverage. We thank Retro Rovers Podcast for proposing this initiative and their efforts so far in getting it to this stage.”
