In August, the Club came together with a number of NHS staff members, in collaboration with our charity partners, Above & Beyond, to thank staff for their support throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
During lockdown, the Club announced Above & Beyond as our 2020/21 Charity Partners, a charity crucial to providing support across Bristol to the many hospitals in the area. A decision taken "to further develop our support for the NHS workers that have sacrificed so much for us all during these tough times" as Commercial Director, Tom Gorringe said at the time.
It was this sacrifice that lead the club to donate over 1,000 season tickets to the NHS Trust, for use when football re-opens its doors to the masses. Furthermore, the Gas also elected to sport a 'Thank You NHS' message on the warm-up t-shirts for the duration of the season, sharing our message of thanks to the thousands of NHS staff who worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic.
When lockdown lifted, the Club were able to use its partnership with Above & Beyond to get in contact with NHS workers who supported the Gas, and invited them down to talk about their work, the support Above & Beyond provides, and their love of the club. We even threw in a little surprise too...
Above & Beyond fundraises for projects over and above what the NHS can provide, including safe, modern and friendly environments, innovative research, the latest equipment and staff training.
This week the charity launched Bristol Against Cancer, a new campaign to help make cancer care at Bristol city centre hospitals the best it can be.
Over the last 45 years, Above & Beyond has raised more than £100 million. While this is amazing, the charity want to do even more - especially for those affected by cancer.
To build on our support for Above & Beyond, and indeed, their support of our vital NHS staff, we are delighted to be donating 10% of profits from our 'Take Your Place' campaign to Above & Beyond - to do so, visit the crowdfunding page here [link]! A donation of £25 will allow you to have a cardboard cut-out of yourself in the crowd, for the remainder of games behind closed doors, though the deadline has now passed for our season-opener against Ipswich Town.

Once again, all at Bristol Rovers Football Club would like to express their thanks to the NHS staff that have put their lives at risk throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We look forward to seeing some of you at the Mem soon.
