Brand Protection

14 August 2020

Bristol Rovers Football Club is proud to have such passionate fans who want to wear the badge with pride.

Unfortunately, we have seen a recent rise in recent weeks of this loyalty being exploited by people who unofficially use the Club’s name and image to promote their own products for commercial gain.

These actions only serve to negatively impact the Club's finances and put money into the pockets of external agents, as opposed to helping the Club achieve our goals and ambitions both on and off the pitch.

To protect the intellectual property rights of the club, we have reviewed all of our trademarks and we regularly work with Trading Standards, the police and UK Border Force.

In order to deter counterfeiters, we also work with the brand protection agency Back Four Ltd, who police the physical and online marketplace for infringing club product and initiate action.

The Club has registered a range of intellectual property rights, including current and historical logos and words and phrases associated with the club such as ‘Bristol Rovers’, with more to follow.

Supporters are reminded that the sale of any product containing the Club's property that isn’t designated as an officially licensed product or sold through the club channels is illegal.

For these reasons, we would ask Rovers fans only purchase official club products.

If you see any products that are being sold illegally, or if you would like to enquire about the use of Club's trademarks, please email brand@bristolrovers.co.uk

If the Club has not agreed to a relationship with you then you should consider that you do not have permission to produce or sell merchandise that bears these marks.

This includes the production of samples to show your manufacturing capabilities. All information will be treated with the strictest confidence and only shared with trusted law enforcement colleagues.
