Club Nominated for Football Business Award

The Club has been nominated for 'Best Club Marketing Initiative' in the 2019 Football Business Awards.

The nomination comes for the marketing around the launch of the 2019 home shirt.

The campaign focused on throwbacks to nostalgic kits, acting as teasers to the reveal of the 2019/20 home shirts, that is based on the kit worn by the side that were crowned Third Division Champions in 1989/90.

The reveal itself included members of the current playing squad, filmed at the Memorial Stadium and gained over 35,000 views online. 

Speaking about the nomination, Commercial Director, Tom Gorringe said, "It's great that the work around the marketing campaign for new 2019/20 home kit has been recognised by such a prestigious industry body. 

"A lot of consideration was taken prior to the campaign on how we could really build excitement to the launch of the kit by releasing the small teaser videos, which themselves enticed a lot of engagement and touched on the traditional values that the club is based on. 

"The reaction the campaign generated was hugely positive, as it appealed to our fanbase in its entirety, engaging supporters both young and old.

"On the back of a successful marketing campaign, the club witnessed a boost in sales of the kit once it became available to purchase and the kit, paired with the new away strip, is on course to be one of our best-selling replica shirts in recent years.”

The Football Business Awards is the annual event that pays tribute to the supporting businesses that assist and enable the success of the game. 

A national event with a ceremony at the end of November, these awards recognise and reward the off-pitch talents and endeavours that are an invaluable, if sometimes invisible, part of the fabric of football.

Last year, the Club was awarded a Bronze award for the 'Step Up' campaign, launching the 2018/19 Season Tickets.  

The winner will be announced at a events ceremony in London on Thursday 28th November.
