While the two senior men’s teams battle for a place in the final, Bristol Rovers already have representation on the day of the Checkatrade Trophy Final, after 8 pupils from Mangotsfield Secondary School secured their place the EFL Girl’s Cup Final, taking place on the famous turf at Wembley Stadium.
On Monday, the girl’s were given a surprise visit from the EFL Checkatrade Trophy to mark their achievements.
The girl’s from Mangotsfield Secondary School started their journey to Wembley after their triumph in the local round against 14 other schools, which was organised by Bristol Rovers Community Trust.
They then went on to represent Bristol Rovers in the area finals held in Newport and after successfully qualifying from that round, they reached the regional finals on Monday 25th February and successfully qualified for the Grand Final after beating teams representing Gillingham, Colchester Utd and Reading.
CEO of Bristol Rovers Community Trust, Adam Tutton said, "Bristol Rovers Community Trust and Bristol Rovers F.C are incredibly proud of the girl's achievements this season.
'Our women's and girl's programme continues to grow at a fast pace and that's a testament to the hard work put in by the coaches and the players.
'Not many people get the opportunity to play at Wembley Stadium and we look forward to seeing the girls represent the blue and white of Bristol Rovers at the national stadium.'
The girls now have the exciting and unique prospect of playing a final at Wembley Stadium before the EFL Checkatrade Trophy Final on Sunday 31st March.
