Match Preview: Rochdale v Bristol Rovers

1 October 2018

Rovers return to the north of England for the second time in four days to take on Rochdale on Tuesday evening in SkyBet League One.

Darrell Clarke's men battled for a point on Saturday away to Bradford City, to go unbeaten in three games following victories over Coventry City and West Ham United U21's.

The weekend's result leaves Rovers in 18th in the table, with the potential to move up to 14th, pending other results and onto 12 points if they triumph over Rochdale on Tuesday night.

Here's all of our pre-match content ahead of the clash at the Spotland Stadium.

Opposition View: Rochdale have had a mixed start to the season and whilst they have been efficient in front of goal, netting 15 in 10 leagues games, they have been leaking goals at the other end, conceding an average of 2.3 a game. They sit just one spot above Rovers in the table with two points more, meaning a win for the Gas could see them leapfrog the Dale. Keith Hill's side have lost their last two, albeit against strong sides, being beaten 3-1 by Portsmouth on Saturday and 4-1 by Sunderland the weekend before.

Last Time We Met: The last meeting took place at the Mem in February this year and was by Rovers in dramatic fashion. Rochdale took the lead through just prior the half an hour mark through Ian Henderson and maintained their narrow advantage into the break. However four minutes after the interval, Rovers drew level as Liam Sercombe volleyed home his 11th goal of the season, before Joe Partington followed it up with a header; his third successive home goal. The visitors immediately replied with Henderson's second of the game, but there would be one final twist as Chris Lines met Byron Moore's smart cutback with little over 10 minutes remaining to rifle the ball expertly in the top right corner from the edge of the area.

Tickets: Advanced tickets for this fixture are no longer available, however supporters are able to purchase them on the evening at Spotland Stadium.
