Rovers Stars Joe Partington, Ed Upson and Gavin Reilly joined our Community Trust at Yate Academy last week to help us support the English Schools Football Girls Football Tournament.
The girls only 7 a-side competition consisted of 20 Primary Schools with nearly 200 players from year 5 and 6 taking part, all aiming to reach the Gloucestershire County Finals in December.
In partnership with Premier League Primary Stars, the Community Trust were delighted to support this highly successful, annual event.
Joe Partington said, “It’s great that there’s much more influence in the public eye about girls being accepted into football and tournaments like this is a great opportunity for young girls to see whether they like to play football in the future. The success of the National team has obviously been a major factor and I hope that it continues to make a positive impact.”
“In regards to working in the Community, it’s something that we all enjoy. It’s part of our role as professional footballers at this massive football club to reach out to people in the community and being able to come down to events like this and offer our support is something that I think is important. It’s great to come out and see what Bristol Rovers is doing as a club to make an impact on young people’s lives."
