Match Preview: Plymouth Argyle v Bristol Rovers

16 March 2018

All the pre-match stats, heading into Saturday's encounter at Home Park.

Rovers head into Saturday's fixture just four points behind in-form Plymouth, knowing that a win on Saturday could potentially close the gap on the top-six to just three points heading into a crucial stage of the season.

Contrary to the headline printed in a certain local newspaper, Rovers are enjoying a good run of form since the turn of the year, picking up twenty-one points since the start of 2018.

Last weekend, Rovers played out a 1-1 draw at the Mem against Northampton Town and will head to Home Park looking to build on an unbeaten run that currently stands at three games.

The Gaffer's View: Manager Darrell Clarke was once again on duty at the routine Thursday pre-match press conference and covered a host of topics that included the recent good form, what to expect from Saturday's hosts and Tom Lockyer's Wales call-up.

Opposition: Plymouth are the in-form team in SkyBet League One, following a recent run of six consecutive wins that saw them climb inside the top six in the table. Results in the mid-week fixtures saw Plymouth fall out of the playoff berths due to Peterborough's win over Bury, with Derek Adams side due to face the likes of Charlton Athletic, Scunthorpe and Peterborough United in the final ten games.

Last time we met: Plymouth were sat bottom of the table when they visited the Mem in September. A strike from Rory Gaffney that day put Rovers ahead, but the balance was restored to the scoreline as former Rovers player Nathan Blissett found the net just after the half-time interval. Rovers re-took the lead on the hour mark as Billy Bodin fired home a first-time shot to allow Rovers to collect all three points.
