Match Preview: Rochdale

13 February 2018

Rovers return to the Mem on Tuesday evening to take on second from bottom side Rochdale, off the back of a superb 2-1 comeback win at Oxford United on Saturday.

Rovers: This weekend's victory at the Kassam Stadium means Darrell Clarke's men have now lost just once in eight games, with that solitary defeat coming against promotion chasing Shrewsbury Town, who clinched a late winner at the Mem a week ago on Saturday. The Gas came from behind to win against Oxford for the sixth time on Saturday, the highest amount of league comeback wins of any side in the top four tiers of English football. It was also the first time in their history that Rovers had won at the same ground five times in a row. The Gas will be looking to avenge their defeat against Dale earlier in the season, as they were narrowly beaten 1-0 at Spotlands Stadium.

The Gaffer's view: Darrell was in a composed and relaxed mood on Monday afternoon as he faced the media, discussing the win in Oxfordshire, the side's current form and Tuesday night's game at the Mem.

Five Things We Learnt From Darrell Clarke's Presser

View inside the camp: Chris Lines was also on media duty on Monday, and offered his thoughts on the clash with Rochdale.

'When there are three games in a week, it's always massive.'

Opposition: Rochdale find themselves with work to do if they are to remain in League One, with only bottom of the pile Bury seperating them and the foot of the table. They do however have three, four or five games in hands on various survival rivals due to cup ties and cancellations as a result of problems with their pitch. Despite their league standing they're in a decent patch of form, winning three, drawing one and losing two of their last six games in all competitions. That includes a 1-0 FA Cup win over Championship side Millwall, booking themselves an exciting tie at home to Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur. Last time out in the league they claimed a crucial three points, narrowly beating Northampton 1-0 away from home.
