Match Preview: Oxford United v Bristol Rovers

28 December 2018

All the pre-match content, heading into Saturday's Sky Bet League One fixture against Oxford United.

Rovers head into Saturday's showdown at the Kassam on the back of two impressive wins either side of Christmas. A dramatic win at the Mem over Fleetwood was backed up with a clinical display on Boxing Day to overcome Walsall - as Rovers registered back to back league victories for the first time since February.

Wednesday's three points also elevated the Gas out of the bottom four and with lots of games still to cover over the next seven days, the focus now shifts to climbing the league standings even further.

A gentle reminder - Saturday's game is a 1pm kick-off.

Chris Hargreaves' View: The Rovers coach spoke to the press on Friday morning to preview Saturday's encounter and touched upon the importance of managing the squad through a busy stretch of fixtures.

Alex Rodman's View: The winger also sat down with the local press ahead of the trip to the Kassam and discussed the importance of picking positive results during what is an important period of the campaign.

Opposition View: Oxford sit just three points ahead of Rovers heading into the fixture. Karl Robinson's side were narrowly beaten by Southend on Boxing Day, as Michael Knightly's second-half header was all that separated the sides. At home so far this campaign, Oxford have picked up 18 points - scoring twenty goals in the process.

Last Time We Met: The two sides played out a goalless draw at the Mem back in October, as Kyle Bennett and Tom Nichols both had efforts stopped by Oxford 'keeper Eastwood. The Kassam has been a happy hunting ground of late for Rovers - as the Gas have won each of their last five visits to Oxford.

Tickets: The allocation of away ticket that the club received is now SOLD OUT - with no tickets available on the day of the game.

Keeping Up With The Game: As usual, we will have updates throughout the game on social media. If you can't make it to the Kassam you can listen live on iFollow, whilst supporters based abroad will be able to watch the game. For more information about iFollow - please click HERE.
