Match Preview: Rovers v Gillingham

27 April 2018

Rovers host Gillingham on Saturday afternoon, in what is the last game of the season at the Mem and Lee Brown's final for the club.

It's set to be quite the occassion here at BS7, as the club will say goodbye defender Lee after seven years with the club.

The left-back will wear the armband and lead the side out for his last display in the Blue and White quarters.

In terms of the contest itself, Rovers go into this one off the back of three straight 1-1 home draws, all against formidable opposition in Charlton Atheltic, Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic.

Despite this, Rovers are still without a win in five games, so will be hoping to put on a peformance and a positive result for the fans in the last showing at the Mem of the 2017/18 season.

Gaffer's view: Marcus Stewart was on press duty for a change, as Darrell Clarke stepped aside on a rare occassion to allow his assistant to echo his thoughts.

Player's view: Following his double swoop at Wednesday night's awards evening, the press were understandably keen to talk to Liam Sercombe on Thursday afternoon and got their wish.

Opposition: The Gills are sat 17th in the table, and with two games remaining aren't quite safe from the drop, holding a four point cushion on the relegation zone. Their form hasn't been too pretty recently either, having not registered a win in their past eight games. Goals have been a problem for Steve Lovell's side, managing just two goals in those eight fixtures.
