Three to Watch: Notts County

2 November 2017

Rovers travel to Notts County on Friday evening in the Emirates FA Cup.

The hosts are currently sitting top of SkyBet League Two and have impressed over the opening stages of the season.

Kevin Nolan's side have won ten of their opening games so far and have scored twenty-eight goals in the process. Last Saturday, Notts County climbed back to the top of the table with a convincing 3-0 at Meadow Lane.

Take a look below at the potential dangermen who may feature on Friday night.

Jorge Grant - Midfield

The midfielder has been a standout performer for the SkyBet League Two leaders this season, finding the net on ten occasions so far this campaign.

The twenty-two-year-old is on loan at Meadow Lane from Nottingham Forest, in what is his second spell on loan at Notts County, following a successful spell last season.

The midfielder scored a brace in his last outing against Newport County AFC last weekend and hit a purple patch back in September, scoring four goals in total and is the Magpies top-scorer this campaign and trails only Billy Kee of Accrington in the race to become the division's top scorer.

Shola Ameobi - Striker

The former Newcastle, Stoke and Crystal Palace striker is now in his second season at Notts County, following his arrival in January.

In a stretch of seventeen appearances last season, the striker found the net on four occasions and has two goals to his name so far this season.

Like Grant, Ameobi was on the scoresheet last weekend against Newport County, scoring a second-half goal to help Notts County move back to the top of the division.

Jon Stead

At thirty-four, the experienced striker has over four-hundred EFL appearances to this name and has been a constant feature of Notts County squad over the past three seasons.

Arriving at Meadow Lane in July 2015, the 6'3 forward has enjoyed a healthy return of goals over the past two seasons, fourteen goals in each season.

So far this campaign, the former England U21 striker has three goals, finding the net in fixtures against Accrington Stanley, Lincoln, and Swindon Town.
