Bristol Rovers have today completed the signing of Stoke City defender Ryan Sweeney, on loan until the end of the season.
The 19 year old central defender was born in Kingston on Thames and joined AFC Wimbledon as an eight year old in February 2005 and remained with them until August of last year when he joined Stoke.
He made his debut for The Dons in April 2015 and by the time he had moved to The Potteries he had chalked up 13 league appearances. In addition he has made one appearance for the Republic of Ireland U-18 side.
“I am delighted to welcome Ryan to The Memorial Stadium and I am sure that between now and the end of the season he will be a valuable addition to our squad,” said manager Darrell Clarke.
“He is a highly thought of young defender who is ambitious and keen to get more games under his belt.
“I would like to thank Stoke for allowing him to join us on loan and, as always, I would like to thank our Board of Directors for agreeing to let us bring Ryan in.”
