Rovers: Darrell Clarke's side will be looking to build on last week's victory over Rotherham United. Last Saturday the Manager praised his squad's character to come from behind to capture all three points.
Darrell Clarke's View:
Opposition: Southend United are currently 9th in SkyBet League One, with a tally of twenty-eight points from their opening twenty games. In Southend's last ten outings they have picked up four wins, three draws and three defeats.
Dangerman: Simon Cox
The experienced EFL striker is Southend's top scorer this season, with five goals to his name.
The thirty-year-old forward is closing in on one-hundred EFL goals and has been stuck on the ninety-nine mark since his strike against Oxford United back in November.
Since opening his account for the season in an entertaining 3-3 draw against Gillingham back in August, the striker has seen a steady flow of goals, with Southend unbeaten this season in every fixture where the Cox has found the net.
Rovers fans will recall the striker scoring a late penalty in our 1-1 draw at Roots Hall last season.
Last Time Out: A stunning strike from Billy Bodin opened the scoring early on in Southend's last visit to the Mem, as a goal from Rory Gaffney secured Rovers all three points when the sides met back in early March.
