Last week, Bristol Rovers Community Trust hosted the EFL Girls Cup which gives children the once in a lifetime opportunity of playing at Wembley Stadium.

The tournament was held at SGS College’s WISE Campus as ten teams battled all afternoon to win the 6-a-side tournament.

These 10 teams were split into two groups, with the top two teams from each group will then progress to the semi-finals before ending the event with a final which was eventually won by Bradley Stoke who will represent Bristol Rovers in the next stage of the EFL Girls Cup.

Joe Pedder-Smith, one of the leads of this event, explained that “This was a great opportunity for the Bristol Rovers Community Trust to not only provide an engaging tournament for girls to participate in but to also build links with schools throughout Bristol.

“Creating links with schools is vital for a community department to grow and develop which enables us to have a greater impact on the community’s participation in sport.”

The next stage of the EFL Girls cup will take place in 2017 with Bradley Stoke representing Bristol Rovers.
