BTEC FUTSAL & EDUCATION COURSE FIRST TERM REVIEW

1 November 2016

It’s the end of our first term of the BTEC Futsal course for our full time Futsal Scholars and what a term it has been.

This year has seen the Futsal programme move into its new training facility at Filton Leisure Centre, where we have access to two Futsal courts a long with a large professional changing facilities boasting five changing rooms, a common area supplied with past time activities to keep our students occupied in their free time and swimming pool for the days that we need recovery.

It is a great base for our FA qualified Futsal coaches to keep our scholars engaged and teach them the game of Futsal.

They are coached through a range of methods whether that be on the court playing the game or in our media room analysing whats next, we make a point to ensure that each and every Scholar leaves the session knowing something they didn't know when they arrived.

We have a new first in our strength and conditioning session taking place once a week where all of our Scholars take part in new found callanetics methods along with age old boxing and fitness methods all to allow our Scholars to achieve heightened levels of fitness which the game of Futsal demands.

All of this has allowed the course and quality of Futsal to flourish. We owe thanks to the Bristol Rovers Supports Club who have kindly donated the funds needed to bring our Filton home up to the standard they we would like.

This colossal change has shown on the course and enabled one of our first year teams to go unbeaten in the EFL Futsal Trust National League leaving them top of their league and our other two squads are close behind them in the top three of their respective leagues.

We have also see the introduction of ladies on the course with the first 5 being part of the first year scholars that have just begun.

Along with the rest of the Scholars they are fully integrated within the Futsal teams and the education groups and have shown great promise in their abilities as players training full time with the boys they enjoy the physical challenges and and are constantly proving that they can mix it with the boys and stand out.

We are very proud in all of our scholars as not only have they been pulling out great results on the court, but they are more importantly over achieving from their individual target grades in the classroom.

It has been a monumental start to the year and we are in a great position to ensure all of our Student Scholars have a choice in the next step of their lives after this superb course.

We would like to extend a great deal of gratitude to the Bristol Rovers Supports Cub whose donations have supported us though the renovation of our new facility and allowed us to take our programme to the next level, without the Supporters Club we would not be able to deliver the outstanding programme that we do.

If you would like to know more about the course please come to our Open Evening on Tuesday 15th November from 7-8pm. The Executive Lounge, Memorial Stadium, Filton Avenue, Horfield, Bristol, BS7 0BF
