Plymouth Argyle 0-0 Bristol Rovers

Our U-18 side played out a goalless draw with their Plymouth Argyle counterparts last Friday and, said Youth Team Manager Alan Walsh, it was a deserved point.

Following their 1-1 draw against Portsmouth before Christmas, Alan made just one forced change to his starting lineup, which saw Eliot Green drop out through illness.

"We began this match with eight first year and three second year scholars. They did well against Portsmouth and deserved to keep their places.

"We played this match on Plymouth's 3G pitch and started brightly. In fact we could have been a couple of goals to the good before our hosts really got into the game. The chances they created came about, mainly because we gave away possession in poor areas. They did hit us on the counter attack on a couple of occasions, but we deserved to be on level terms at the break.

" The chances we created in the second half were not as clear cut as those we carved out before the break , but the biggest threat posed by Plymouth came from their set pieces. Corners, in particular, caused us a few problems and we experienced a couple of hair raising moments but managed to keep them at bay.

The point gained by Plymouth meant that they finished top of the league, but I felt we battled hard and that a draw was a fair result."
