Lee is one of the lucky winners of the McCoy’s competition “Win Your Club”, which ran in partnership with Bristol Rovers and The Football League.
This competition provided Lee with a once in a lifetime opportunity to look behind the scenes at the club he loves.
The initiative was set up by McCoy’s and partnered by the Football League and had proven to be very popular.
The Football League’s Commercial Director, Ben Wright said, “The ‘Win your Club’ competition from McCoy’s has proven very popular this season providing the prize winning fans a unique insight into life at their favourite Football League clubs.
“We’d like to thank the directors, staff, management and players of Bristol Rovers who all combined to give Lee and Ben a once in a lifetime experience at the club.”
Initially Commercial Director Barry Bradshaw took Lee on a tour of the club’s training ground, where he saw the training facilities and watched Assistant Manager Marcus Stewart put the first team through their paces.
After training he met the whole squad and stopped for a lengthy chat with Marcus before travelling to the Memorial Stadium to have an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the stadium.
When reflecting on his visit to the training ground, Lee told us; “My first Rovers game was back in 1992, when Rovers lost 3-0 to Grimsby Town at Twerton Park. Even though we lost, it was still an experience I will never forget.
“Today has been a fantastic experience for me to see everything behind the scenes and to speak with Marcus Stewart, who was my favourite player when I was growing up. It’s just been a brilliant experience.”
As part of his prize Lee was also our Programme Sponsor for last Saturday’s game against Luton Town where he enjoyed food in the Dribuild Hospitality Suite and watched Rovers begin 2016 with a convincing victory.
Bristol Rovers Stadium and Commercial Manager Ian Holtby said; “It’s fantastic for a Rovers fan to win a National competition with so many other clubs and supporters participating.
“In my 18 years at the football club I don’t recall one of our supporters winning such a prestigious prize and we sincerely hope that Lee and Ben enjoyed their time with us.”
