MEMBERS OF THE ROVERS SQUAD ATTEND READING EVENT AT LOCAL SCHOOL

16 December 2016

On Thursday 15th December Ollie Clarke, Danny Greenslade and Adam Tutton from our Community Trust visited Oasis Academy Brightstowe for their annual ‘It’s Reading Men’ event.

The ‘It’s Reading Men’ event in the school library was targeted at Year 7 boys in the school who are struggling to read or lack motivation to practise reading.

The Rovers players were at the school for over and hour and listened to lots of year 7 boys read and were very encouraging in helping support the youngsters

Adam Tutton, CEO of the Community Trust said, "Studies show that boys need a positive male role model who reads so that they themselves are motivated to read. Many boys do not have a male role model to influence them in this way so Ollie and Danny were delighted to be able to help support the students. Also, having a reading age that is equal to a student’s chronological age is essential if they are to have a chance of gaining good GCSE grades in the future."
