Speaking after training yesterday Billy said: “I am delighted to be staying here until the end of the campaign.
“I have really enjoyed my time with the club so far and feel we can enjoy a successful season.
“I had quite a long time out of the game, through injury, before I arrived at Rovers and it took me a while to break into the first team and hold down a regular place
“It took a while to get used to the pace of playing league football again after spending so long on the sidelines, but I’ve had no reaction to my injury and I hope I continue to feature regularly in the squad.”
Billy has, to date, has scored three goals in 13 league games for Rovers. He joined the club in time for the start of pre-season training and was initially offered a short term deal after impressing manager Darrell Clarke in pre-season games.
Darrell said; “Billy fully deserves his contract extension as he has worked incredibly hard to return to full fitness after having to spend a long time out of the game due to injury.
“Technically, he is a very gifted player who has an eye for goal and I’m sure he will continue to do well for us.”
