In recognition of his service, as a player and physio, the Board of Directors have granted Phil a testimonial match.
"I'm extremely grateful to the club for granting me a testimonial game," said Phil, "and I have to admit it's going to be a wrench leaving the club I have supported since I was a boy."
The testimonial match, against West Bromwich Albion, will take place this Friday (31st July) with the game kicking off 7.30pm and a whole host of Rovers legends will be in attendance including Ian Holloway, Paul Randall, Phil Bater, Pete Aitkin, Geoff Twentyman, Andy Tillson, Dave Pritchard, Jamie Cureton, Barry Hayles, Nathan Ellington, Steve Elliot, Richard Walker, Gerry Francis, Harold Jarman and Tom Stanton just to name a few.
"It's becoming more and more difficult to persuade any of the Premiership sides to play pre-season friendly matches or testimonial games, as many of them undertake pre-season tours which take them abroad, and very few will agree to send their first team squad out for games such as this” said Kite.
“However, when I contacted West Brom manager Tony Pulis, a good friend and former Rovers play of course, he immediately agreed to bring a full strength side down for my testimonial match.”
Seats in the two main stands are priced at £15 for adults and £7 for Under-16's with tickets for all other parts of the ground will be £10 for adults and £5 for Under-16's.
Tickets are available to buy online now by clicking here, and will are available to purchase from either of our two retail outlets now.
Bristol Rovers Stadium Manager Ian Holtby added, “Never again will you see all of these famous Rovers names in one room at the same time. So to see them all coming together to show their support for Phil is absolutely fantastic.
“It will be a great night and everyone at the club would like to see you come out and show your appreciation for a true Gashead.”
