DARRELL PLEASED WITH NEW ADDITION

12 January 2015

Rovers boss talks about today's signing

Today’s signing of Jermaine Easter is seen as a big boost for the club currently sitting in second place in the Vanarama Conference with the Rovers boss saying the fans have every right to be excited about his latest addition.

“He is a great model professional and he certainly fits the bill with what we were looking for.

“Bringing Jermaine in will improve our striking options at the club, but we already have a good group of strikers.

“The real pleasing thing for me is that he is hungry and wants to score goals. I’ve said all along that I want hungry players and that is exactly what Jermaine is.

“I had lunch with Jermaine in November but we are delighted to get him on board now for this final push until the end of the season.

Welsh International Easter boasts an impressive goal scoring record but Darrell is confident that he will add more than goals to the side.

“He is a very bubbly character so he will fit in well with the great set of lads that we already have here.

“It is important that whoever comes into the football club fits the criteria and can fit in with the rest of the football club.

“Jermaine is a quality player who is now itching to get going but I don’t want to put to much pressure on him.

The signing of Easter shows a statement of intent from the Bristol Rovers board and Darrell is very happy that they have backed him so far.

“It is a big signing for the football club and it is pleasing that the board have allowed us to bring in someone of Jermaine’s caliber to the club.

“We’ve done things very sensibly considering the budget got cut from last season.

“The board are ready for the final push and they’ve backed me by being able to bring Jermaine in.

Darrell told us last week that he wanted to bring in another player this week and tells us that another deal is really close.

“We haven’t got it sorted just yet, we are just waiting on little things.

“It is just a few things we need to sort with the other club, but we are looking to get a loan player in who will be a right winger but that’s all I can say at this point.
