The manager's thoughts on another free weekendDarrell Clarke faces another weekend without a fixture following the postponement of the Braintree Town fixture and the Rovers boss is frustrated with the lack of first team action.
"It is difficult for us because we want to try and keep the momentum that we've gained but it was also disappointing that we had a game organised for Tuesday against Forest Green and that got called off because of the pitch but we just have to get on with it all.
"We have to get our heads down and work on our bits and pieces in training because the whole thing around fixtures is out of our hands and we can't control it.
This week saw Ryan Brunt leave the club by mutual consent and join League Two side Plymouth Argyle with the manager wishing Ryan all the best in the future.
"With Ryan we couldn't afford players on decent salaries not being involved it's as simple as that.
"Ryan is a model pro, I don't have a bad word to say about him but he wasn't part of the week in week out plans here and it was a wage that we couldn't afford to keep paying if they're not involved.
"At the club now we've got Ellis [Harrison], Matty [Taylor], Jermaine [Easter] and Nathan [Blissett] so there is great competition for those striker spots which is what we wanted.
With the departure of Ryan Brunt, Darrell's squad has reduced again in size with the manager aiming for 'quality over quantity'.
"We've only got a small squad of 18 with one loan player in as well but things can change quickly with injuries.
"We have fantastic quality within the 18 that we have and the first year pros are out gaining experience and getting games under their belts but I feel that they aren't ready just yet for where we are at as a club.
"However, if I need to strengthen I'm sure we could look to get somebody in because the Chairman and the board have been fantastic so far when I say there is a player that I want to bring in.
Midfielder Ollie Clarke sustained an injury to his left knee at Woking on Saturday and joins Stuart Sinclair on the treatment table with Darrell saying that it is worse than first thought.
"Ollie's [Clarke] injury isn't looking good at the minute so we will need some more assessment on that and see where we are.
"He has had the scans and had the assessments and he will be seeing a consultant who will be giving us some more advice with whats best to do for Ollie.
"Stuart [Sinclair] isn't back in full training yet, but we are hoping that he will be back in full training Monday but we will have to wait and see how that develops.
With no fixture this weekend Darrell says his mind is fully focused on the trip to Princes Park next weekend to take on Dartford.
"We are working hard on the training pitch because I didn't think we were brilliant with the ball in attacking areas against Woking.
"We are trying to keep the players fresh but also trying to tweak certain things where we need to improve.
"Every team needs to improve in certain areas and we are no different.
"If we can get a result at Dartford then we will have 8 home games with 6 away games and you have to play all the teams home and away so we will just do the job we need to do.
