The manager's post-match commentsBristol Rovers picked up another vital three points in the Vanarama Conference over Altrincham and Darrell told the press how important they could turn out to be.
"The three points is terrific but the performance wasn't as good as we have been playing if I'm being honest.
"I don't think we got going well enough with the ball, we hit the post a couple of times and their keeper has made a few saves but defensively as a performance it was very very strong.
"I can't remember Steve [Mildenhall] having a save to make, but we expect to be better on the ball.
"We are at the business end of the season where it is all about the three points and Altrincham have been in great form but I will definitely take the ugly 1-0 win.
"That makes it three wins in a row and three clean sheets in a row which shows the tremendous effort from the lads and for me it is a sign of a good team.
Tom Parkes scored the only goal of the game today and the Rovers boss couldn't speak highly enough of his centre half.
"10 months ago I had a few words with Tom about the potential that I think Tom has but he needed to get things right off the pitch. This season he come back with the right attitude, his fitness was up which was exactly what he needed.
"He was stripped of the captaincy last season but he is showing this season how good a player he really is and he will go onto much bigger things in the game if he keeps going the way he is going.
"I think he has been immense all season and for him to get a goal caps the performance off.
Rovers closed the gap to table topping Barnet to one point following today's result and Darrell tells us that it is sometimes difficult not to find out how other teams are doing.
"It was pretty hard today not to find out because their score popped up in front of me on the scoreboard but we just want to keep winning our football matches
"We are in a race for the title with 11 games to go and if you look at the league table we have a chance to go top on Tuesday night.
"If you looked five or six weeks ago we were 11 points behind Barnet and people were saying 'that's that' but we are in a title race and we will enjoy it and embrace it.
