Russell is attempting to visit all 92 Football League grounds which entails running 79 marathons over 79 days, and finishing on the 80th day with a short 13.6 mile run. (These are estimated miles based on AA and RAC calculated routes between each ground).
The reason behind this heroic challenge is that Russell lost his Mother, Father, Brother and Sister over about a twelve month period 19 years ago and Macmillan helped a great deal to see him through a troubled time with his Mother’s cancer.
His Grandson was born just over two years ago and after three months of age identified to have a rare heart defect.
Two heart operations later at Great Ormond Street Hospital will allow me to complete the run in time to finish and see him for his third birthday.
Due to this massive influence on his life, Russell will be donating everything raised to Macmillan Cancer Support and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Full details of Russell's heroic journey is available here.
The club have donated a signed shirt for him to raffle at a later date, but should you want to donate to the cause you can do so by clicking here.
