I've been asked, on more than one occasion, if the standard of football in the Conference has surprised me and I have to say that it hasn't. I can't see a great deal of difference between this league and League
Two and believe the better teams in the Conference would definitely survive in League Two.
Darrell has assembled a squad that is able to compete with the best teams in this league and they are proving to be very resilient and able to grind out a result and win an 'ugly' game or go on and take three points from a more expansive game.
There is scope to add to the squad and Darrell's intention is to bring in a couple of players in the next few weeks so that we can be prepared for the busy Christmas period. We will review the situation again at that point as we determine what is required to make a final push for the rest of the season.
Darrell has scope within his budget to bring players in. We will try to improve that budget if we need to and we are aware he has a list of players he is looking at. However, there is an excellent team spirit in the squad and it's important that anyone we bring in is able to fit in with that.
I was delighted to receive a letter from the Vanarama Conference this week, confirming that they have no objection to us showing goal highlights on our Youtube channel or to local TV companies showing highlights of our games. They plan to review the situation in January, but for now we can look forward to seeing Bristol Rovers on our TV screens again.
Before kick off on Saturday we will demonstrate, to the football world, that we will not tolerate racism at the Memorial Stadium and I hope you will all join in with us as we make a very public stance against racist abuse.
Our support , home and away, has been nothing short of phenomenal and I am convinced that if we can consolidate our league position, crowds will increase even more. Thank, you all, though, for your fantastic support so far.
