Defender and keeper ahead of our last game of the season

Today we spoke to Mark McChrystal and Steve Mildenhall ahead of our final game of the season against Mansfield.

Both players know that the job is not yet done, and know that the fans will be out in the numbers on Saturday to help them over the line.

Here is a brief extract of what they had to say.

McChrystal: “We didn’t want to leave it this late to secure survival, but we have made it hard for ourselves over recent weeks, and now it has got to be done.

“Last week’s win has given us a bit of confidence, and now we have to go and finish the job.

“It is going to be a full house, so hopefully the fans will get behind us, as they have done all season and as a group we can all get over the line and secure safety.

“Let’s go out and get three points, and once the season is over, then we can reflect on what has gone wrong.”

Mildenhall: “This match is up there for importance with playing at Wembley or the Millennium Stadium, it is about making sure this football club retains its Football League status.

“Last Saturday was a huge step towards safety and come Saturday we just need to concentrate on the job we need to do.

“For me it is a strange one, I don’t really see a way of celebrating when you have staved off failure, but there will be a huge amount of relief.

“It is still in our own hands, and last Saturday was only part of the job, we still need to do a professional job and get a result.

“The support last weekend was magnificent – but to be fair it has been all season home and away. It is going to be rocking on Saturday.”
