Manager on tomorrow night's game
John Ward knows that three points tomorrow night could be crucial for either team.
Visitors Southend could propel themselves back into the play offs after some poor form in recent weeks, and Rovers could shoot five places up the league table with a win.
The manager said; “It is a topsy turvy league and Southend are coming without a win in ten or 11 games.
“But if they win they can go back into the play-off positions, and if we win we can go up five positions.
“There are massive incentives for everybody in this league at this moment in time.
“It is pretty exciting; but pretty nail-biting when you are involved with it, but at the same time it is tough league.
“We could get a march on other people tomorrow night if we can get our three points.”
The manager admits that his team were poor against Hartlepool, but he has been impressed with the way they have handled themselves on the training pitch this week.
He said: “We played poorly against Hartlepool, and that is probably the first time we have had that, the team hasn’t performed for the 90 minutes, and we have contributed to our downfall.
“This week was about reminding them that we have been good at home, and although we have had a few defeats they have been in the right spirit.
“We are strong at home and we have got to revive that very quickly. This is the next game and it is really important that action speaks now.”
And earlier this week, Tom Lockyer and Ollie Clarke committed their futures to the club, both penning contract extensions until the summer of 2016.
John said: “We recognised their futures could be good ones, and we wanted that to be here.
“We have two very good young boys, who have had an excellent season, and we want to continue with that, and so do they.
“We have been very impressed with their progress this year and they have really developed well.
“So hopefully over the next two seasons, there is a good future for them at this club and we can build around that.”
