Harrold, Clucas and Woodards start at Victoria Park
Manager John Ward rings the changes for this afternoon’s game against Hartlepool United at Victoria Park.
There are three changes to the starting lineup that sees the return of Seanan Clucas, Danny Woodards and Matt Harrold, who replace Tom Lockyer, Ollie Clarke and Chris Beardsley respectively.
It’s the first start of the season for Woodards who will take on a midfield role this afternoon.
This is the 20th league meeting between the sides and both have six victories to their name while seven matches have ended in draws.
The victory that will live long in the memory, as far as Rovers fans are concerned, is the final day 2-1 win at Victoria Park on 5th May 2007. Rickie Lambert scored the winning goal that day to set up a play off
semi final against Lincoln City…and then it was on to Wembley!
There are, of course, playing links between the sides and Rovers’ assistant boss Darrell Clarke spent six years here as a players and is featured in today’s matchday programme.
Rovers fans may also recall that goalkeeper Anthony Williams and defender Jon Bass, played for both clubs, as did Danny Coles.
