Nick on form, contract extensions and the impending JR result

I am sure I speak for us all when I say how disappointed I was with the last two results – especially after the good run of form we have shown in recent weeks.

The manner of the defeat at Hartlepool was particularly galling, and it seemed like the whole team was having an off day. Hopefully we can bounce back quickly and put those performances behind us tomorrow.

I am penning these notes before hearing the results of the Judicial Review process into the Sainsbury’s planning application at the Memorial Stadium site. We spent a day at the Bristol Civil Justice Court last week, while the judge heard the technical legal arguments from the interested parties.

We were pleased that the judge decided to make his decision in just a week, and later on today we hope that common sense will have prevailed, and we have got the go ahead to proceed with the development of the new stadium.

We have had two pieces of good news on the field this week, with Ollie Clarke and Tom Locker both committing their futures to the club and signing contract extensions.

I am delighted that they will both be staying at the Memorial Stadium for the next two years, and I think there is an exciting future for Bristol Rovers with these two in the middle of the park.

Ollie has had some difficult periods over the last few years, picking up a number of bad injuries, but he has battled back and shown the tremendous strength he possesses.

While Tom has graduated from our successful youth team to become one of our stand out performers this season.

This week season tickets have gone on sale for next season. We believe our season tickets represent great value for money, and we have taken the decision to freeze prices for another year.

We are also running a couple of other incentives to reward our loyal fans, and there are two different ways you could get next year’s season ticket for free – click here for more details.

Whilst it was another difficult start to the season, we believe we have strengthened both on and off the field, and we continue to build for the future. We feel there is plenty to look forward to over the next few years, and we would like you to be a part of these exciting times.

I would like to thank you for your continued support, and I hope as many of you as possible will be purchasing season tickets for next season.

Turning our attention back to tomorrow night, I hope we can get back to winning ways here at the Memorial Stadium, and put the last two disappointing results behind us. Let’s get behind the boys and create a fantastic atmosphere at the Mem.
