New drains being laid this week
Pitch work is back underway at the Memorial Stadium this week.
Work began before Bristol Rugby's Championship final last Wednesday, and the second stage of the process is now underway.
Additional drainage is currently being laid in the problem areas around the edge of the pitch.
The surface will then be covered in top soil and over seeded, before work is done to improve aeration and relieve compaction.
The work should be completed within the next two weeks, with the playing surface being ready for our pre-season game against Coventry on Friday, August 1st.
Stadium Manager Ian Holtby said: "This year work had to reflect the fact that Bristol Rugby had a game on June 4th - a month after our season had finished.
"Eric and his team have therefore had to do the work in two stages, with certain jobs taking place before the final.
"Next season there will be half the amount of games at the Memorial Stadium, so the demands on the playing surface will not be as great as in previous years. The pitch will have more time to recover between matches.
"I would like to thank Eric and his team for all their hard work to make this possible."
