Manager says there could be four or five more new players
After completing the signing of midfielder Stuart Sinclair today manager Darrell Clarke said that he hopes to bring in another four or five players before the start of the season.
“We will be spending a training week at Cardiff University from 14th July and hope that two or three new faces will have joined us by then.
“I’m not particularly worried about the timing as I’ve been working on recruitment through the summer. I’ve been speaking to a lot of people and making sure we bring right ones in.
“There were hundreds of players available at the end of the season, and there still are. Those without clubs at the moment will be panicking a little bit and wage demands will be going down!
“Ideally we will run with a squad of around 23, which includes the four first year pros.”
The manager also declared himself pleased with the makeup of his coaching team.
“Marcus Stewart is my assistant now and we are supported by goalkeeping coach Stuart Naylor while Steve Yates will be our defensive coach and will be doing a lot more work on the training ground.
“I’m really pleased with my coaching set up and I wasn’t ever looking to change it.”
