Manager on tomorrow night's game

John Ward is looking forward to a Friday night game underneath the lights at the Memorial Stadium this weekend .

The manager is hoping for a fantastic atmosphere and three important points to start off the weekend.

He said: “I like to play Fridays. It gives people involved in sport the chance to come and see our game.

“They are good if you win, because you can sit back and watch everyone else struggle away on the Saturday afternoon when you know you have your points in the bag.

“It also means on Saturday I can go to Scunthorpe and Darrell will go across to Northampton.”

Burton visit Bristol tomorrow, and the manager knows it is going to be a tough match against a top six side.

He said: “It was a tight game up there earlier in the season. Even with ten men we were in it for quite a while, and with 11 we would like to think we would have come closer to getting a point.

“They are a good side, I saw them on Saturday and they are strong and resolute.

“Top six is not a lucky position, and we are going to have to play well to beat them.

“We are going to have our work cut out, it is going to be a tight game, but we have only lost one of our last nine or ten at home, so we are in good shape at home.

“We have got a good team coming to play us, in good form, we think we are in good form at our place, so if people are wondering what to do on Friday night there is a good game in prospect down at the Mem.”

The manager has almost a full squad to pick from now, with Matt Harrold the only man missing.

John said: “We would have had Mark McChrystal back anyway for Saturday, but the extra few days have not done him any harm, and Ollie Clarke will be fit and available for tomorrow, which he wouldn’t have been last week.

“We think we have come up with a good formula to go and play, but that does leave some good players on the bench.

That is a good thing if we can get it right and use that squad as well as we can.

“It is a good time of the year to get your full squad back, and we are just really Matt Harrold short at the moment. Matt has a good chance of being available for Tuesday.”
