Lyle Della-Verde was today resigned to the fact that his loan spell at Bristol Rovers has come to an end.
The exciting young Fulham prospect was injured against Wrexham last week and a subsequent scan has revealed that he sustained ankle ligament damage.
He has now returned to Fulham for treatment and his recovery will take him beyond 4th January when his loan spell was due to end.
Manager Darrell Clarke expressed his disappointment at Della-Verde's injury; :Lyle looked to be an exciting prospect in the games he played for us and we are disappointed that we won't see more of him in a Rovers shirt.
"Injuries are, unfortunately, part and parcel of football and that's we have a squad so that we can cope when one players sustains an injury. Lyle's injury will give another player an opportunity of staking a claim for a regular place."
After making his debut as a second half substitute in the first round FA Cup tie at Tranmere, Della-Verde made four starts and two substitute appearances in the league.
We wish him well and a speedy recovery from his injury.
