Bristol Rovers were knocked out of the FA Trophy in the first round by Bath City at the Memorial Stadium and Darrell Clarke said that the best team won on the day.

“I’ve got no complaints with the result, it was an awful performance from ourselves and rightly so the supporters showed their frustration.

“We deserved this stick we got as we left the pitch but we are all very frustrated and disappointed.

“I don’t want to take anything away from Bath because they played very well on the day and we played very poor on the day.

Rovers didn’t pose a great threat on the Bath goal in what was a frustrating afternoon for the men in blue and white.

Darrell said: “we never really got ourselves going, we had a few half chances but we never had any real tempo.

“We found it very hard to break Bath down and gave away two goals because of individual errors which never helps you in football.

“It was two individual errors that cost us the game but we all need to bounce back from this result.

“If Bristol Rovers lose a football match it is an absolute disaster but now we need to get ourselves ready for Friday’s game with Gateshead.

Nathan Blissett was substituted at half time following an injury and the Rovers boss has said that he wouldn’t want to make things worse by allowing him to play on.

“Nathan did well in the first half winning a lot of the aerial battles but at half time he was struggling with his ankle and we don’t want to take a risk with him.

“We will see how it settles down and hopefully he will be alright for Friday.
