Thatchers will be on tap throughout the stadium

Bristol Rovers are delighted to announce a new partnership that will see Thatchers and Butcombe on tap at the Memorial Stadium this season.

The popular drinks will be available in all bars throughout the stadium from Saturday’s opening game of the season.

Stadium Manager Ian Holtby said: “We are delighted to be associated with two local breweries and would like to thank both Thatchers and Butcombe for coming on board.

“Our fans have been enquiring about having Thatchers on tap for quite some time, and we are really pleased that we have been able to get their favourite cider in for them.

“And we were amazed at the sales of Butcombe last season – it really exceeded our expectation.”

Martin Thatcher, managing director of Thatchers Cider Company said: “The city’s rugby and football clubs are part of Bristol’s great traditions.

"Around the time that the clubs were starting, my great grandfather was beginning to make cider just down the road in Sandford. So it’s fitting that we are able to form this partnership with Bristol Rovers which values its own heritage as much as we do ours.

"Wouldn’t it be nice to think that the early Rovers players celebrated their wins with a pint of Thatchers!”

Butcombe Brewery, winner of the Society of Independent Brewers’ (SIBA) prestigious “Brewer of the Year 2014” title, will bring its flagship brand of Butcombe Bitter to the stadium.

Managing Director Guy Newell said: “Butcombe Bitter is the West Country’s most popular bitter, currently pouring in over 1000 pubs and clubs within a 50 mile radius of Bristol. It is great that we can add The Memorial Stadium to that and bring our brands to Rovers supporters”.

There will be a Thatchers promotion in the Clubhouse before Saturday’s game, with the bars opening at 11am.
