The winger and defender join the club for one month.

Bristol Rovers have today brought in two players on a month’s loan.

Defender Will Packwood comes in from Birmingham City, whilst winger Alex Henshall from Manchester City is set to complete his paperwork this afternoon.

Henshall, 19, joined Man City from Swindon in the summer of 2010. He spent eight years at Swindon as part of the academy set-up before joining City at the age of 16.

In January this year he went out on loan to Chesterfield, where he stayed until the end of the season.

He has represented England at both U16 and U17 level.

Manager John Ward said: “We have got two young players in to complement the squad.

“Alex is a Swindon boy, so he knows this part of the world, and he is looking for an opportunity to get going.

“Will is highly rated at Birmingham, so much so that they don’t want him cup tied.

“There is not huge experience in the boys, but they complement the group, and they want to be here and want to get going, and enhance their own careers as well as help us.

“New faces in a football club tend to give the whole group a bit of a lift, so I am looking for these next two days to be very positive.”

A product of the Birmingham Academy, American youth international Will Packwood can play in either defence or midfield.

Born in Massachusetts, Packwood has an English father who hails from Solihull and an American mother, therefore has dual US and British nationality.

Having signed a two-year professional contract with Blues in the summer of 2011, he made his first-team breakthrough during the 2012/13 season.

Packwood, 20. signed a one-year contract extension in the summer of 2013.

Chairman Nick Higgs said: “I would like to welcome Alex and Will to the club, and thank their respective clubs for allowing them to come to us.

“I hope they enjoy their time with us, and can make a positive contribution to the side.”

Henshall will take squad number 16 and Packwood 22.
