DEFEAT IN UNDER 21 CUP

4 October 2013

Rovers lose out on penalties

1-1 (Lucas 89)
Bristol Rovers went out of the U21 Premier League Cup during a penalty shoot out last night.

Watford are through to the next round after winning 4-3 after the shoot out had gone to sudden death.

In normal time Watford looked as though they were holding on to a 1-0 lead with two minutes to go.

However, Jamie Lucas struck in the 89th minute to silence the crowd at Vicarage Road and take the match into extra- time.

Rovers then lost Eliot Richards to injury and saw out the final half of extra time with 10 men and managed to contain the hosts until the end of the match.

Rovers then looked as though they had done enough to play Plymouth in the next round, but both Gill and Keary missed decisive kicks from the spot.

Gough, Southway, Green (Greenslade), Clarke (Hunter), Keary, Anderson, Goddard, Gill, Harding, Richards, Santos (Lucas)

Unused: Thomas, Preston
