Work begins on playing surface
Work has begun to get the Memorial Stadium pitch ready for next season.
The playing surface held up well this season, despite very poor weather conditions throughout the year, thanks to the extensive work that was done last summer.
This year a similar process will be followed to ensure the team have the best possible pitch to start the 2013/14 season.
The surface of the pitch is currently being removed by tractors, and power harrowed, then the playing surface will be covered in sand, before being reseeded and fertilised.
Stadium Manager Ian Holtby told bristolrovers.co.uk: "We have been very pleased with the way the pitch held up last season, with over 50 games played on it.
“There will now be three days worth of work on the playing surface, to get the pitch ready for our friendly against Derby County on July 19th.
“Our aim is to get the best possible playing surface for John Ward’s team next season, and continue the improvements we saw last year.
“I would like to thank Eric and his team for all their hard work in making this possible.”
