Harrold and Mildenhall visit school team

Earlier this week Matt Harrold and Steve Mildenhall gave a girls football team a massive boost ahead of their ESFA (English Schools Football Association) South West finals tournament this Saturday.

The players spent time coaching the Westbury on Trym C of E Primary School team, passing on their knowledge and expertise to the girls, who seemed to enjoy every minute of the session.

Before Christmas, Westbury on Trym won both the ESFA Bristol finals and the Gloucestershire FA county finals, allowing them to progress to South West finals.

As the Gloucestershire County Champions, the school will now move on to the ESFA South West finals, which will be held in Bristol on Saturday 9th March. Should the girls win on Saturday they will progress the school to the National Finals for the first time.

Kelvin Chappell, teacher at the school said “I just want to say a huge thank you for organising the training session for the girls today. The girls had an amazing time and loved every minute of their afternoon.

"Please can you pass on my sincere thanks to Matt and Steve for giving up their time to come in this afternoon. We really appreciate the time that was given to spend with the girls and I'm sure that they have gone home speaking about it non stop!"

Bristol Rovers would like to wish the girls the very best of luck ahead of this Saturday. Do yourselves, your school and Bristol proud.
