Nick on the section 106
I share your frustrations about the amount of time taken to sign the section 106 agreement on the Memorial Stadium site.
Some five weeks ago I was told the document was almost ready for signing, but for a number of reasons, outside of our control, this has not happened yet.
I have spoken to Sainsbury’s on Tuesday morning, and their solicitors have now received the engrossed bound document to check over, and this will hopefully commence the signing process.
This document has to be signed by several parties and subject to there being no further amendments we hope this will be concluded in the next seven days. I will let you know when I am in receipt of the document for our signature.
I am unsure as to where these unfounded rumours of ‘ransom strips’ on the internet have come from. There have been no issues surrounding the stadium that have been holding up the signing of the section 106 agreement.
Although these delays will obviously push back the start date on the new UWE Stadium build, this does not currently cause us any issues, as we do have plenty of spare time to play with to be ready for the 2015/16 season. However we are all very keen get started on this project as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience, I will continue to keep you updated when we get more information.
