Former staff members pay their respects
One week on from the funeral of kit manager Roger Harding, we have received this following tribute from former assistant manager Darren Patterson and former Chief Scout Paul Molesworth.
“Darren and I were both saddened to learn that our good friend Roger Harding had passed away.
“I was in Australia when I heard that the news, though I was aware that he had been ill for some time.
“When Darren called me to confirm the worst, we were both very upset.
“Roger was the first member of the backroom staff that I met when I joined Rovers in 2004 and also the first that Darren met when he joined the club a few years later.
“In the seven years I worked for the club I always got on really well with him and I have to say that he was as important to the squad as any player, or staff member, during that time.
“I remember him jumping around the pitch like a five year old at Wembley in 2007 and, because he was actually from Bristol, you could see how much it meant to him.
“Everyone loved Roger Harding, and football has lost a real character.
“Sadly Darren and I couldn’t be there to say our farewells to our friend, due to long standing football commitments, but we would both like to pass on our condolences to all of the Harding family via the website.”
