Back bigger and better than ever!

The Bristol Rovers Football Club annual fun day will take place at the Memorial Stadium on Sunday 21st July, from 12pm to 4pm. The event is free to attend and will be bigger and better than ever before.

Among the many new attractions and types of entertainment confirmed are:
• Fans' first opportunity to purchase the new season kit
• A rare opportunity to watch a training session, with full commentary from Manager, John Ward
• Meet Manager, John Ward, and the players for this season and collect autographs from your favourite players
• Launch of the Bristol Rovers Big Local App – now fans can stay in touch with The Pirates on their mobile
• Cheerleader displays courtesy of the Black Panther Cheerleading Squad
• Behind-the-scenes tours of the players' dressing room
• Children’s pirate fancy dress competition – open to all children to take part. Judging to be at 2.30pm by John Ward when the winner will be presented with a signed football
• An opportunity to have your picture taken with Irene the Bristol Rovers 'gorilla'

Stadium Manager, Ian Holtby, says: “Bristol Rovers will be throwing open the stadium doors for our annual fun day. The event is free of charge to attend and open to all. Come and join us for a great family day out, not only will it be the first opportunity to purchase the new season kit, but also the launch of our new free to download mobile phone app.”

Bristol Rovers are always looking for new ways to engage with fans and keep them up-to-date with news and make it easy for them to access the information they need. The Bristol Rovers Big Local App is a great new way for people to get up-to-date information just at the touch of button – and what’s more its free. There will be an Bristol Rovers Big Local App stand at the fun day, showing you how to download and navigate it.

The fun day has received great support from local businesses including Bristol Balloons who will be bringing one of their distinctive multi-coloured hot air balloons and flaring it up at regular intervals throughout the day.

Also represented will be Bristol-based dealer, Fowlers Motorcycles. They will display a range of motorcycles as well as the quirky Paiggo Ape small three-wheeled commercial vehicle – so there will be lots of great photo opportunities. They will also hand out free goody bags (while stocks last).

The Bristol branch of the National Association of Blood Bikes charity “Freewheelers” will be raising awareness of the charity and the vital work they carry out.

Firefighters from Avon Fire & Rescue Southmead Community Safety Centre will be attending but not to extinguish any fires! Instead, they will talk about their work and demonstrate some of the kit on a fire appliance. Additionally, they will be giving advice on fire safety.

There will also be a number of support groups such as the Bristol Rovers Helpline who will be present to answer any questions supporters may have regarding their association with the club.

As well as all this, there will be go-karts for children to drive, a fun fair, face painting, a BBQ, an ice cream van and promotional giveaways courtesy of Peter’s Pies and Mars.

Army Football will bring their Shootout Challenge where you can test your accuracy and power with a football.

Members of the 39th Signal Regt (V), Territorial Army, based at Horfield TA Centre, Bristol, will be carrying out a recruitment drive and bringing along an army recovery truck, a radio Land Rover and it's recruiting trailer.

Lt MS Crilly from the Recruiting, Retention & Mentoring Team says: “The Territorial Army is a volunteer active duty reservist force that forms one quarter of the British Army and trains people from all walks of life to be soldiers in their free time.

"We are currently carrying out a major national recruitment drive and are expecting to increase our fully trained members from 19,000 to 30,000 by 2018. If you are interested in joining the TA, please come along to the Bristol Rovers fun day to meet members of your local branch for an informal chat."

Advantage Vans will display the new Bristol Rovers' team vehicle and the event will be supported by local charities including the Prostate Cancer Charity.

Please note: due to the volume of on-site activity, there will be no on-site parking at the stadium during the fun day. Players will leave the site at 3pm.
