Another step towards the new stadium

Rovers have taken another step towards the UWE Stadium, after putting the final signatures on the section 106 agreements.

The legal agreements have now been signed by Bristol Rovers, the University of the West of England, South Gloucestershire Council and Bristol City Council.

This means that all the legal agreements have been finalised, clearing the way for the stadium development once similar agreements have been signed by Sainsbury’s on the Memorial Stadium site.

Section 106 agreements are commitments made by the developer and formalised by a legal agreement under the Planning Act.
The agreements are legally binding, and the obligations may be either in cash or kind, to undertake works or provide additional funding for services.

In the case of the UWE Stadium most of the provisions focus on traffic regulation and management; and include stewarding of parking areas on match days, residents parking zones and contributions towards highways improvements.
