The manager on this weekend's game
John Ward has confirmed that Ryan Brunt could start Saturday’s game after playing an hour in a reserve game in midweek.
Matt Gill and Garry Kenneth also got game time, with Matt Harrold expected to play in a reserve match next week.
John said: “Ryan Brunt scored in the game in midweek and he got an hour. Matt Gill got an hour, and Garry Kenneth got a full game in to add to his hour last week, so there is light at the end of that injury tunnel.
“Ryan Brunt is in contention to start this weekend, he is fit and well and if everything stays that way he has got a good shout. He was pivotal last year in terms of how we played.
“Matt Harrold should play part of a game next week to get him ready for the game against Northampton.”
And for the first time this season the manager will have to give some thought to his starting line up.
He said: “ It gives me extra experience on the bench and in the dressing room. We have young guys in there and they need a bit of help and support.
“Even if the senior boys are not on the pitch they will support the rest of the group.
“Probably for the first time I have a bit of thinking to do about my starting line up.”
The manager is expecting a tight game on Saturday when York visit the Memorial Stadium.
He said: “There are not too many goals between the two teams, but we are organised, and we will be together and try and get ourselves a win.
“They will be tough opponents, as they were last year. It was a tight match last year and I expect the same this year.
“At home we have to be as adventurous as we can and go forward and try and win the game.
“The players are looking forward to the next game. We owe ourselves and the supporters a good result and we have to work hard to get that this weekend.”
