Match Preview - Lincoln City v Bristol Rovers

9 October 2020

All the need-to-know information, ahead of this weekend's encounter...

Looking ahead...

After a midweek outing in the EFL Trophy, the attention returns once again to the league campaign this weekend.

The Gas will be looking to carry forward the momentum generated by last weekend's 2-0 win at the Mem over Northampton, which was followed up by a bright and promising display by the younger contingent of the Rovers squad at the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday.

With his squad preparing for a third game in seven days, Manager Ben Garner spoke to the local press via Zoom on Friday, to offer his preview of Saturday's fixture against Lincoln City.

View from the Opposition...

Lincoln boss, Michael Appleton, offered his pre-match thoughts ahead of Saturday's showdown. The Imps boss turned his attention to Rovers and signalled that they might without a few faces on Saturday, telling weareimps.co.uk, “Bristol probably feel they haven’t had the start they wanted, they invested over the summer and they have a big squad.

“They are physical, and they will try to dominate us, but we will look to match that and deal with it in the right way,

“We’ve got some lads unavailable for tomorrow. Brennan is away with Wales; he played a big part in the squad last week and we’ve got a few injuries so we will see who’s available to start.”

Form Guide...

The Imps have been in impressive form in the early stages of the season, recording 7 wins in 9 outings in all competitions. A run of four straight wins in Sky Bet League One has seen Lincoln climb to the top of the league standings, with only Hull City matching their perfect start to the season. The form of Jorge Grant has been a factor in Lincoln's strong start to the season, with the former Nottingham Forest midfielder on target on four occasions already this campaign.

Past Meetings...

Last season, Rovers returned from Lincoln with three points thanks to a Jonson Clarke-Harris penalty. The 66th-minute goal from the forward was the only difference between the sides. Clarke-Harris scored from the penalty spot, after Tom Nichols was fouled by Neal Eardley inside the area.

Kit...

Rovers will wear the famous blue and white quarters on Saturday afternoon.
