Pre-Match: Ben Garner on Sunderland
Opposition: Sunderland have enjoyed a three-game spell that has produced nine points, with the Black Cats not conceding a goal in that stretch of games. Sunderland's last defeat at the Stadium of Light came in late November when Burton Albion picked up the points. In their last 13 outings in all competitions, Sunderland have lost just once.
Press Talk: Sunderland boss Phil Parkinson spoke about how he wants his side to maintain standards the set in their recent unbeaten run. Talking to safc.com, Parkinson said, "There can be no drop in standards in training or on a matchday. Everyone in and around the top six are on good runs, but we have got to concentrate on ourselves. We had a good week last week and we have trained well so far and now we have got to take that into Saturday’s game."
Last Time We Met: The two sides met at the Mem last March in the Semi-Final stage of the EFL Trophy. Sunderland scored a goal in each half through Will Grigg and Lewis Morgan to give the Black Cats a 2-0 win. The sides are yet to meet in the 2019/20 campaign.
