Head of Youth Darren Patterson took a number of our younger players to Reading on Tuesday 16th February, for a friendly fixture against some of the Berkshire club's best young players.

It was, quite literally, a game of two halves as Darren selected different sides for the first and second periods and his teams won the first half and lost the second.

"The teams were made up of first year professionals and some younger lads from our Centre of Excellence," Darren tols bristolrovers.co.uk.

"And although some of the youngsters were a little bit out of their comfort zone, it was a very good exercise and an excellent game to watch.

"We did play some good football at times and the overall score is immaterial, so suffice to say that both sides won a half each!

"It was a great opportunity for me to have a look at the Centre of Excellence boys and i was pleased with the way things panned out and would like to thank Reading for giving us the game and for their hospitality."
