STADIUM UPDATE

Posted on: Fri 30 Jan 2009

Bristol Rovers today announce that pre-construction work on the stadium redevelopment project is continuing to progress.

The club are in detailed discussions with funding sources, and the next six weeks will involve detailed legal negotiations.

Back in October Rovers announced that they were planning to stay at the Memorial Stadium during the redevelopment process.

Since then work has been done to subtly rework the details to get plans in place for work to begin as soon as finances are secured.

Chairman Nick Higgs said: "When we made our last announcement we promised to make a statement in January, and although nothing has been finalised in terms of the finances, I feel that it is important to keep fans informed of how things are progressing.

"Things are moving forward well and we are cautiously optimistic about the future.

"In the last three months work has been continuing behind the scenes and the details of the project have been subtly refined.

"Things are still progressing and we have built a good relationship with our partners and we look forward to working closely with them.

"We hope to be able to make a further positive announcement in March."

The careful planning of the project will allow the club to continue to play at the Memorial Stadium during the construction process and avoid major inconvenience to supporters.

The stadium will be constructed in a way that maintains a minimum capacity of 8,500 at all times.

The club aim to make a further statement at the beginning of March.
